Hello all. New to modern reefing but not new to the hobby. Kept a FOWLR back in the late 80’s with a few inverts. Boy have things changed. I have done my homework and owe much thanks to all of you experienced modern day reefers haha. Little info about my tank. 110 gallon beginning mixed reef adding slowly even though the tank is cycled and actually only went through a mini cycle to begin with as this was an established tank that I purchased and transported everything including water and live rock, what a day that was) but I have since upgraded equipment, (lighting, skimmer, etc.) added more live rock, expanded the sump (did my own build as I have worked with acrylic in the past) and have again, been adding slowly. Started with CUC of 14 Asterea snails, 2 Ceriths and a couple of emerald crabs. (Lost one, he was never right from the start)) we have since returned most of the snails to the LFS because I was worried they would starve as tank was becoming void of any algae. Have added animals since and my current lineup is this: FISH - Yellow Tang (captive bred and cost $440 phew) named Molly Dolly (my wife) but Dolly is a sweetheart and awesome fish, 2 osellarus clowns, Hanz and Franz, 2 Nassarius snails, 3 Asterea snails, 2 peppermint shrimp, 1 emerald crab named Harry (the first inhabitant) a mushroom tentacled coral, some green star polyps (kept on their own island) and a killer SPS brain coral. Did I mention I’ve added more live rock, lol. Lots of beautiful coralline algae too, some new growth. Adding slow, monitoring my Parameters, which are always in check, and just loving my excursion back into thei wonderful world. I love the ocean, love, snorkeling, diving and surfing and recently got married in Maui. The snorkeling there on the reefs re sparked my love and when we got back to the mainland, we dove right in. Anyway. Long winded I know. Hope to participate here and pass on what I know, what I have learned and will continue to learn here. A few pics for now to enjoy! Thanks for having me.
