Hello, I'm new to R2R.

I've been in the aquarium hobby on and off for about 20 years. Started from S.A. Cichlids to African Cichlids then to Saltwater.
Currently back to the dark side with a 60g cube, 24x24x24".

Stocked the tank with easy soft corals immediately after the cycle, progressing to LPS then SPS. Everything is going well so far no coral losses, just trying to get the system dialed in. I am however dealing with a lot of fish aggression with many losses from jumping to just bullying to death. I've even lost a very nice Onyx Clownfish due to an very rare Gonipora poisoning from the Clownfish relentlessly trying to get the Goni to host. Most people don't believe me, when I tell this story but I have photo and video evidence from a perfectly healthy fish to death shortly after introducing the Goni and the Clownfish messing with it.

But anyhow, I'm super excited to be engaging with you all and learning from fellow hobbyist on here.

Hello and Welcome! Notice you are in Houston and glad to see you able to be online after that early hurricane. Here is a Texas Howdy from your DFW 'neighbor!'

Having a generator comes in handy to ensure temperature stability and oxygen/flow for your corals and fish. I find using an acclimation box comes in handy introducing fish. Because it has a lid and magnets so it can be positioned anywhere within the aquarium, this has become my favorite acclimation box:

I keep screens over the openings in my canopy and over my returns to minimize fish 'carpet surfing' ... that deadly Olympic sport aquarium fish tend to try. For the returns, it's actually aluminum leaf guard as I needed something with some stiffness. I've yet to find anything trapped up there and my theory is they thrash about, the screen (horizontal) keeps them from falling out the backside, so instead of ending up in the overflow returns, they flop back into the main aquarium water. I have inadvertently left the front doors open when feeding and lost a few fish out the front side doors over time.

I'm sure you'll find the right tweaks for your own situation that work best for you. Keep us posted!
