Hi Dawson and Welcome!

Without doing an intermediate quarantine tank with a third tank setup, which isn't likely an option of interest to you, I can't think of any other way. Additionally, even if you got everything over without the turf & bubble algae, without quarantine tank some future addition could (re)introduce them back or introduce something else.

A while back, a guest speaker for our local hobby club did touch on quarantine (but more for fish):

Perhaps above might give you some ideas. I know you'll fit right in here at Reef 2 Reef. Sounds like you are doing well and congrats on your new tank!
Thank you!!

When you say you can't think of any other options, do you mean without a third quarantine tank? Or did you mean only moving the marine pure gems / the base rocks which haven't received any light?

Welcome to R2R! If your tank has algae then there are likely spores on every rock/coral plug/porous surface in your current tank. I've put rocks into a tank that have dried for several years and once back in a tank they can quickly sprout algae. I'm not even sure a 3rd tank for QT is really a fix. Your best bet in my opinion is to clean things as well as possible before moving them and then have a decent CuC ready to go. A non-photo period of a couple of weeks can also help. Algae are a natural part of the seas. All we can do is control them with intervention like CuC and manual removal and careful nutrient management. That said my tank is a total algae nightmare at the moment so don't listen to me.

You mention base rock might have 'spores or whatnot'. Not receiving any light isn't going to eradicate algae which can go dormant until suitable parameters exist. I was thinking third tank, but algae can be controlled by not giving it the fuel it needs (light, nitrates, phosphates) so I think whatever you do, in the long run, it is going to come out okay. Glad you joined.
