Hi everyone,

It’s been a while since I’ve been active but I have been lurking around. We’re expecting our first child early next year and I’m thinking it may take time from other hobbies than I can put back into this one. I do miss it dearly.

A couple of years ago, I had a 6 gallon SPS “reef”. Things were going well for the first 2 months until dino’s took over. After doing research and going through future experiences, I understand where I went wrong.

The tank was easy to maintain and it didn’t take much time out of my day.

Has anyone successfully kept an SPS reef less than 10 gallons long term? If so, what was your secret?

This is a mixed reef I found. Has some sps in it but is not a sps dominant tank https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/scully’s-10g-nano-lps-softie-easy-sps.895564/

Here is another one

Check with WWC as I believe they have several Pico tanks where WC the only upkeep. Can't see why tank size would matter assuming all parameters met. Fact is more I calculate the effort to deploy a large tank the more I'm considering the smallest for Sticks and settle on softies for main. Plus being small will make any colony look humongous :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

That was almost my exact thinking as well lol.

In the old tank, I was doing frequent 1 gallon water changes 3-4 times a week…I think. I was testing alk, mg and ca daily. I dosed phyto daily and I can’t remember if I used all for reef daily or not. I know I had a doser hooked up to the tank. Ultimately, I think I just rushed things otherwise I would have had more success
