Does anyone have a Hanna PO4 (ULR checker HI774) and the Salifert PO4 reagents?
I just tested mine using the Salifert reagents and the test came back the same ballpark as the Hanna reagents for my acropora tank (0.16)
I did not wait the 3 minutes and perhaps I should have as the test on the larger tank came out higher but I think there were still some bubbles from the vigorous shaking.

Does anyone else have these on hand and would be willing to do a comparison? would be interesting to know because I have no use for my PO4 salifert reagents otherwise.

Don’t have answer for you, but as I understand it the PO4 samples should be stirred not shaken. On the other hand the NO3 requires shaking.

I would not assume that values you'd get back would be identical.

There was something similar reported with the HR Nitrate tester:

I wouldn't rely on it, but I'd be curious what others results are if anyone's willing to try

The main issue is the exact amount of dilution of the sample into the water containing the reagents.

With the Salifert phos test you use 10ml of water and 4 drops of reagent, plus a powder, so the method doesn't deviate as much as the above article

I use salifert in the ulr phosphorous ppb checker and divide the result by 3.12. Might be off on the precision a bit. But the accurate is leaps and bounds better.
C1 with 10ml tank water
Add 4 drops, gently mix, add 1 scoop, gently mixed well.
Wait for bubbles to rise up and rhen press button for c2. No countdown needed.
Testing tank water and a stock solution, salifert gives very repeatable results, where as the Hanna sachets did not.
So, my experice has been: good colorimeter, shoddy reagent.
Seems pretty accurate. When I get 0.015ppm or lower, dinos, abiotic precipitation, and all sorts of crap ensue.

I use api reagents in my high range nitrate checker, the results are very consistent, maybe 2ppm higher than the hanna reagent.

I did some tests about a year ago and found that in the normal 0.05 to 0.10 range there was reasonable correlation between the Hanna reagents and the Salifert reagents.

I didn't do any linearity tests across the checker range.

At the end of the day for me, the negligible price difference made it simpler to simply use the hanna reagent which is single step.

You need to wait the three minutes for the Hanna test after the teo minute mixing period. The result can be higher because of undissolved particles in the water, though possibly lower if develop time is shorted. You should redo your tests following the instructions exactly before comparing test results.

Well totally different readings from Hannah and salfert I don’t understand that they are totally miles apart but that’s my testing done I will stick with Hannah

It’s tough to do these comparisons rigorously. While we have the estimate for the Hanna accuracy, we don’t have it for the Salifert test. I suspect the accuracy could be close but the variation is large. So, even observing two different results does not mean they are statistically different.
