Guys,
Which do you use and why?

I noticed with the lr it’s not particularly accurate around the <.1 range and have to do 5 reading and get an average

I’m using the ulr nitrate and with balance and stability on my list of must haves I think I’d be better off with the ulr

Do you mean which hanna checker? When I used it (I sold it on ebay about a month after buying it) - I used the Low range. I frankly would not do 5 measurements and do an average IF the results are within the known parameters of the test. And - If you are getting widely disparate values beyond the known parameters - I would consider using a new test method. I would also consider how important it is to be 'particularly accurate' < 0.1. not meant as a criticism, but merely a way to save money - if you're needing to do 5 tests for each 1 reading, you're spending a lot of money - and not sure there is any benefit

Yes that’s what I meant sorry

The range is like .11, .08,.09,.05,0.8 so not massive variations but enough to throw doubt into the accuracy

yeah - I mean - I don't know off the top of my head the precision/accuracy of the test. However, I don't think averaging 5 results will help. Let's put it this way - have you ever done anything differently with the 5 measurement average as compared to 1 measurement? If not, I would just do 1 measurement - and follow the trend - JMHO:).

Well both yesterday and today the first readings were .11 and .12 so I would have intervened yes, as I’m dosing lanthium chloride I need to set it to balance my food , phyto and coral feed which when I did the averages I got .08 yesterday and .07 today
Admittedly if I’d have taken the first readings I’d still have been happy but added an extra ml to the lc to bring down a bit otherwise I’m cleaning the glass every day

With these tests - I think you might be over-analyzing their significance. Just use one measurement. It's going to make your life easier. Promise

I think you are expecting the tests to do more than they can. And - none of the results you listed should be a clinically significant difference. If you want to do it - the averaging - all good - however I doubt it would ever make a difference in your tank

I’m Anal when it comes to numbers and for dialling in the correct amount of lc is important to me so I don’t have to test phosphate every other day when I was using the reactor , it was a pain adding 30 mins to it as the media exhausted
And changing the media an even bigger pita

Hope you get where I’m coming from , it’s one thing less to worry about with a simple tap on the app to add 1ml on or take a mil off

Anyway, the stability will go a long way since it’s all I hear for keeping twigs
