Sometime ago (3/12/23) I ordered Alkalinity Reagent for my Hanna Colorimeter.

It arrived with an expiration date as of 10/2023.

I have been using it. My dKH has been dropping off ...

Recently I needed to order supplies including more Tropic Marin All-For-Reef so I ordered a new bottle of reagent.

Came with an expiration date of 01/2025.

Out of curiosity I had to see if they agreed.

Old reagent reports dKH of 6.8.

New reagent reports dKH of 8.2.

I have run the experiment twice and the delta is consistent.

Red Sea titration kit (very old) is a completely different number like 3.8?

I am just going to believe the new value as it is the number I want.

Is that not the basis of science? Cherry picking the data to agree with your confirmation bias.

I thought someone sold dKH check packets? Don't get me started about my Hanna Salinity checker. Complete trust.

ICP test?

Ugh, as the days go by, I will just accept the results until I order more but that might be a ...

I would trust the results garnered through the use of the new, unexpired reagent, and would not consider that to be "cherry picking".
