Hello everyone,

I am very new to corals and LPS in general. I bought these a few days ago. They all opened and looked puffy, only one hammer head looks very small, its opening but the other head is pretty much taking over it. Is this okay? Are these one coral or two corals? They have different colors. That's why I am wondering. Maybe one is happy and the other isn't. Also the frogspawn is looking very puffy, does it look fine? All the pictures are being taken at the span of their 1 week stay. So its a picture a day. The white light pictures are the first 2 days. and most of the blues pictures today and yesterday.

Info:
Flow is very low. Light also isn't as intense, wanted to go light in flow and light for the first week. 20gallon Long QT Tank. No fish just corals.

I have a hammer that had one head die off after I first got it. 10 months later: it’s coming back (the bottom/left head in the photo)

Your your frogs look well.

Thanks for the reassurance, I just wanted to make sure because I have no "feel" yet on how does the coral is behaving.

Wow this pictures looks stunning! Explosion of colors. May I ask whats the yellow and orange and blueish coral underneath the hammer and the cardinal fish? It caught my eye

No worries at all.
The other just taking its time.
Mag is very slightly low but no worries.
Yeah I noticed that, problem is the red sea blue bucket mag mixes a bit low, lots of people complained about this. I wish it was slightly elevated. I still haven't started dosing anything because they are only 4 small frags in QT tank. I am currently testing everyday to track everything so I know when to dose/how

To me the coral in question (the one on the right), looks like two different coral heads grafted together.

The bigger one a purple tipped hammer or frammer and the sad front one more a solid green/mint hammer.

My concern would be if they are different, the purple tip may outgrow the other head.

But they could be both the same and just a slight color difference due to being closed up.

they look entirely different, could It be possible that one coral has two heads with different colors? If not I will inspect it later in the day and if they are not "branching" out of one stem that means they are two different corals right? How would I separate them if that was the case

If you have no fish, how are corals being fed?
Short term, no prob, but long term, there needs to be a feeding plan in absence of fishy friends.

I would leave them be for now and see if they both grow. At that size it would be hard to separate without causing injury/crushing their base.

I did not think about that, I've read that I don't need to feed them but I didn't dig deep. What should I feed them? Is there LPS specific foods

Fish poop! Like fertilizer this stuff!
Corals love this stuff. Great growth.
Maybe a yellow to keep plugs clean of algae.

I’ve never done corals without at least, one fish.
Maybe a wrasse to pick off any bug like stuff.

This is a temporary QT, but I am definitely thinking of stocking it full of corals when my DT becomes full and making it a secondary frag tank. I have a 200g tank cycling right now so that will a while to fill. This is a tall order but my plan for now is to run both at the same time, buy coral, QT them for 45 days then transfer to DT. So a permanent residence fish is definitely a good idea to feed the new corals

Without fish or target feeding your corals will starve

I’ve tried so many lps foods. And there are a lot of great ones. But there is one that stands out to me as the best

It needs to be kept in a refrigerator. It’s fresh foods. Copepods, mysis, proteins etc

I have LPS dominant tank and Every single coral in my tank loves this. The corals that don’t eat solid food benefit from the liquid this food is in

Hello guys, sorry to re bump thread. I fed the frogspawn 24 hours ago and these small white tentacles appeared, are these feeder tentacles? Or is something wrong.

Also the hammer has some "pinched" tentacle, I've been observing closely so I've been noticing everything. Just testing parameters and trying to keep salinity stable.
