Hi all! I have another question about my hammer coral. So over the past 3 weeks my hammer has been flourishing. All my params are in check and everything is going great. I have noticed tissue recession at the very base of the coral. I have read that this is normal, and that the tissue will stop receeding after awhile. The piece of hammer I got was freshly fragged, so I’m wondering if the tissue is receeding to make room for new skeleton. Any help would be appreciated thanks :)

Beautiful hammer! Looks like it’s extending nicely! Hard to tell if there is an issue from the picture.

Has there been any flow changes in your aquarium recently? Either in intensity or direction?

I did move my powerhead the the other side of the tank, so all of my corals would get better flow. The change was small but maybe it could’ve affected it.

Keep an eye on it. If the tissue recession becomes worse, move to new location. Hammers are relatively hardy though and maybe fine were it is.

I would do as much water change as you can and also consider adding no3 a lil.

How long has it been like this? Just today? Or for 3 weeks?
Looks likr glue irritation to be honest.

Alk is 8.3, Calcium is 420, and Mag is 1400ish. It has been like this for about two weeks. Glue irritation would make sense because it was a very fresh frag when I got it, and I think the tissue is receding to compensate with the glue on it’s “skin”
