Hey guys ok so Been doing salt water for 4 years now. I have a IM 75 INT and ehhhh I don't like it. I don't like that it has that whole compartment in the back collecting detritus. I don't like that 5" of the tank is used up but most of all I don't like the metal stand. I LOVE the tank and build quality but I don't know how to mount stuff to this stand. I want to get a controller and dosers and all that and I don't have room to add a cabinet next to it for equipment.
SOOO I'm Going back and forth on what tank you buy next. I have 4' where I can move up from a 3' to a 4'.
I know Red sea had all the issues of seams but I do like how I can do the reef mat, there doser and its just all matchy matchy.
I like the new Nyos 400. It was 25% off on 4th of July week and I'm hoping they do it again on black Friday. I have herd red sea will do 12% off during this time too. Then there is the IM 100EXT and that im open too but Im back at the metal stand and they cram a 39" long sump in there using up all the space. There is the WB Infinia Reef 150 but again metal stand.
I do love peninsula tanks because you can see 3 sides, I think it will be amazing in my Office but where I'd put it Im wondering the room to walk around. The red sea P350 (75 Gal) that's technically no longer than what I have not BUT will give me more viewing for coral so not great for fish but great for coral. The P500 (100 gal) is 12" longer now Im at 4' and thats kinda dream tank status. lol
I have 2 AI 32HD's so lighting is okay.
What is your guy's opinion?
Here are some images of my office. The cat tree will be relocated but the tape on the floor is the demetions for the Red Sea P350. Maybe the P500 wouldn't be that bad (12" Longer) it just seemed cramped walking around it between my wifes Etsy stand and the tank?
Other side where my tank is that black shelving unit would get moved to where the cat tree is, thats storage for fish stuff. But the 4' tank would fit right there.

maybe check out waterbox too? If I could do it over I'd go with waterbox over red sea in that rpice range. They make nice peninsulas: https://waterboxaquariums.com/products/peninsula-4820

Worth mentioning that you can use the red sea reef mat on any sump that it will fit in, doesn't have to be red sea tank/sump.
Thanks for the responce!!
So I did look at Waterbox only thing is there Peninsula is 19" wide where the Red sea is 25" wide. I know alot of ppl said wide is better so that was the only thing where I was kinda hesitent. You get 4' tank but its thinner so less water volume.

I see. Well, I have a red sea reefer 350 G2 myself and it's perfectly good. I haven't read any first-hand experiences with seams failing on the G2 models, so hopefully that consideration is a thing of the past.

Yes I hope so too. For everyone lol.
Going off the pics do you think doing the Eedsea P500 so being 1FT longer then the tape on the floor in the pics, you think that will be a little too cramped? Your oppinion.

just my opinion, yes that would feel too cramped for my liking. but it would be cool to be surrounded by fish while working :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes: could you move your craft table (it looks like that's what it is?) somewhere else? That would definitely make things feel better in my opinion.

JMO but that's a lot of coin to drop for a similar tank to the one you have had for 4 years. I personally would have a hard time with that.

If it were me, I'd look to see where I thought I could comfortably fit the biggest tank possible, and then find the tank that has similar dimensions, or order one from Planet Aquarium or Glass Cages.

In your layout, I probably would try to put it on the wall between the door and your desk and try to fit that whole space, or fill up that back corner. You also could move your desk back near the window if that helped.

If you got a long tank on the cat tree wall, it'd have a peninsula like effect in that you'll walk around it and then see the other side from your desk.

BTW Andrew McMahon is awesome - saw him at Bonnaroo a couple years back and he crushed it :)

Wait, I don't know all these boxed tank brands or what they are worth. If I had 4 ft I would go and buy a standard 120 (4x2x2)with an overflow like from SCA aquariums. Build a stand and buy a sump.
I wouldn't use two Hydra 32 HDs though. I would add a third and get four 54 w t5s.

So yeah that's her Etsy stand where she does work so that unfortunately can't go anywhere. Can be moved. maybe pull it over to where my tank is now so it's not as cramped?

I absolutely hear you however this isn't my house it's a rental. We will be here for another 3-4 years then I'll be buying a house there is where I'll get a 200 gallon. Here I do want something bigger then the 75 but nothing crazy just yet. I am still learning for sure.
Maybe I'll pull the black Etsy stand over to where my current tank is then put a peninsula where that is now but going towards the door.

Oh I'm a huge Andrew fan lol been to every concert past 3 years here in AZ. I discovered him 4 years ago. His story is amazing.

Ah I get that.... If you are gonna move in the foreseeable future and plan a monster, then I think that peninsula idea is great!

Have you considered CADE aquariums? The stands are superb, made out of only glass and aluminum. No particle board or wood to potentially warp. Available in white or black. Built in gravity fed ATO.

Various sizes, see them at AlgaeBarn.com. Excellent customer service as well.

Reading this I sound like I work for them, but I don’t. I recently bought a Reef Pro 600 S2. I’m very fond of it.
