Can they co-exist peacefully in the same tank?

They both get huge, so you'd need a bigger than big tank. They can coexist, given you get them in the at the same time. Don't be surprised at posturing and aggression; be prepared to separate them if you need to.

I had 3x foot long puffers in my 230 for a while. I had to get rid of the pork and the starry puff bc they were nipping fins.

The tank is much more chill now with only the golden puffer.

Are the 3 puffers in the first video black&white, golden, and pork puffer?

Nvm my question. I got the starry confused with the black & white guineafowler

Who was the boss? The golden looked a little skinny.

It changed over the course of the last few years.

The porc was the original tank boss bc it got biggest first then once the others caught up it was way down in the hierarchy. I think the fin nipping was defensive but golden has always been mean and territorial. It was one of the main aggressors when I recently tried to add a blueline trigger which I had to put in the sump for the time being.

Wow he is aggressive. Is the black & white version equally aggressive?

I've had a Golden Puffer, Porcupine and Starry together with no issues. When Starry outgrew the tank I had a Scribbled Mappa (Arothron mappa) in there and no Issues.

However, my Golden and Guineafowl did not work out. Golden/Guineafowl (Arothron meleagris) is the same fish so it was a gamble to start. A dogface Puffer (Arathron nigropunctatus) is too close in my opinion and I would expect aggression.

How big is your tank? What sizes were your puffer? What was the sequence of adding them?

It’s hard for me to tell how close or far each puffer you name since they are all Arothron. How do you tell if one is more similar to the other?

I only have a 180g now with the Golden Puffer and and a pair of Burrfish puffers that get along great along w some others fish.

The Starry, Mappa and Scribbled were rehomed as they got bigger to a friend's 300g and 220g. I didn't have them all at the same time w the Golden but there was some overlap w a couple of the combinations. The Golden Puffer was added last as it was the biggest at the time. Mappa and Starry grow tremendously fast and large and caught up quickly in size about 8-9".

The only issue I had with the bigger puffers mentioned above was during feeding. They would bite going after the same food and locks jaws. The only combo I had no chance with was the Golden Pufffer and the Guineafowl because again they are the same fish just in different colors (and the color doesn't mean male or female which you may read along the way somewhere). In my opinion the Guineafowl/Golden Puffer is too close in appearance as the Dogface. I would not mix them unless you have a really large tank. My tank is pushing it right now until I get a 300g+.

Google each type and you'll see the differences. The pair you are thinking of are very similar. Hope this helps

I keep a yellow belly dogface with a stars and stripes no real issues in an 8' 240 gallon, but each puffer has their own personality.

Every once in a while one accidentally bites the other on the mouth going for the same piece of shrimp, but they let go quickly and don't do any real damage. Overall they do great. I have a bit of nipping, but it's the sohal tang biting and chasing anyone away from the spot where I feed the tank and the smaller damsels being annoying damsels, not the puffers or the triggers.

I’m eyeing this 5-6” guineafowl puffer…, they usually don’t come that small. Tough decision…

I've been there. What size tank?
Well. I have a 560G but it’s acrylic so I’m struggling to put them there even tho I want to. Then I’m just down to an 180G.
