Hello Everyone:)
I've got a 45-gallon reef tank with a pair of clowns and a leather coral that finally opened.
I currently have a back pane of what is I am assuming acrylic and I wanted to create a GSP wall. However, I have two large pieces of rock resting on the acrylic and I have heard if GSP gets on rocks it will never come off. Is there any way to prevent the GSP from spreading there? The wall is large so it will probably take around 6-12 months for it to spread that much but I still wanna know if is there any way to prevent it from spreading. Is there anything I can put on the rocks to make the GSP not want to grow there?

The black is the panel and the two top rocks and the bottom one are touching the panel. However, the bottom one i can move.

Thanks for any awnsers

Constant trimming and diligence. Otherwise you need at least a 5" gap

Try to peel some GSP off the rock or chisel a small piece of rock with GSP and use gel super glue to attach to back. Then wait a year to two and you’ll be good!

If you have a spot of coralline algae on the glass for the gel superglue to stick to it works better, if not you, just need it to stick for a few days till the new GSP can grow and attach…

Sadly, my LFS is in the midst of a massive tank break down, they have a RSR250, that was glorious and amazing as one of the main DTs, but last few visits, lights off, tank looks awful...they said GSP took over and also pulsing Xenias...and levels went out of control, so they are gradually removing GSP and Xenia over a slow process as to not do more harm to tank.

The Tank was awesome, entire back wall covered in GSP, huge Xenia Colonies, mushrooms, zoas, clams, hammers, torch, you name it...but GSP went nuts and started covering coral, power heads, returns etc...so they had to break it all down.

I was trying to do something similar, but actually glad I failed at it...lol.
