Hi, I'm having green hair algae issues. We have been cleaning the rocks/sand of it, but it comes back in full force rather quickly. It takes over the tank in a matter of days. Attached is my water analysis from ATI. Right now it is a FOWLR, but once I can get a handle on this I would like to start introducing soft corals.

I'll be replacing my mixed bed resin for the silicon issue, but not sure if that could contribute to the algae.

Thanks,

I don't know about the report, but a pic of the tank will really help. Lets first identify this algae, and lets see the sandbed, I'm not sure what you mean.

1-Green hair algae loves low flow, reevaluate your flow and consider turning it up.

2-green hair algae is fed by dissolved organics in the water. You are likely feeding too much food that is going uneaten, and not enough filtration to remove the doc's. Feed smaller amounts, turn up the skimmer, and run activated carbon which will bind the doc's. Water changes are also excellent to remove doc's.

3-algae issue's are a good time to beef up the clean up crew.

these are just general suggestions, but if you post more about the tank - size and number of fish, how much your feeding, filtration type, nitrate and phosphate level, etc... I'm sure you'll get more help.
