Alright we're not going to talk about the bottom box, yet.
But (lol)... there will be PVC glue involved. ;Woot ;Woot

I already bought the Reef Energy and Purigen, earlier in the week.

The big catch for myself is the Hanna Alk Checker. Should have bought this long ago.

So this weeks goodies are:
Hanna Alk Checker (with two extra reagents)
25 pack of ULR reagents
1 500ml bottle of Purigen
Red Sea "Reef Energy" A & B (Dose 15ml of both 5 days a week)
And one small bottle of @hybridazn 's KZ Coral Snow

Pumped to get the Hanna Alk Checker!!!

Welp, Nothing like the smell of "Napalm"... I mean PVC primer and glue in your home at 8pm. :D

As you can tell on the upper two post... (lol) I've been huffing the fumes. Looks like a nice headache in the am. :(

Welp,
The mystery box has been put into action. (And it's in re-search mode)

Gonna take a few days to tweak and come to an opinion and if I it's a like'y, will take weeks to make a final verdict. If it fails... Just lost most of my BRS points.
My plumbing is in a rigged state and GFO reactor is offline. If it's a like'y will adjust plumbing and have GFO reactor back online, this weekend.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gotta test drive the Hanna Alk dkh checker tomorrow. :D

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Glad your busy and my work is in a slamming mode too.

I really like the checkers, fun, fast, and easy. The best part is no more drops till a color is achieved. I will say the AF tests are pretty accurate.

Glad your busy and my work is in a slamming mode too.
Thank you Freddie. It like running a race, with no training. I was sore and tired last night:eek::D and the heat is a extra.

Yep first flipper

Love my alk checker
Couple things I learned without anyone telling me nuthin
try to get the same lot for your refills as I notice when lots change so does your number
I am loaded up on vials and regents there could be an apocalypse and I would know my alk for the next year easily everytime I buy something add alk regent
The last 10-20 ml of regent I throw away I've gotten some weird results with it think like backwash in a bottle drink it's there so don't share
I have one vial that gives weird results as well that's hidden somewhere
I rinse with regular water then rinse out with rodi water
I clean the vial with a glass towel for glasses after I put the water in it and try to never touch the vial again while putting the ten ml mark forward
I use this syringe to get a consistant 10ml it can be picked up at any Walgreens

That's it

GoVols: Update for the day...

As you already can tell, I've bought a new Purigen reactor. (Have contacted GEO but may call off the dogs)
Looks like a winner
Built like a rock
Easiest reactor to change out the media, that I've ever owned
It's in testing mode and I'm really just too tired to post pictures ;Yawn ;Yawn ;Yawn

So, We have Reef Energy circulating in the tank. Skimmer will be turned back on at 8:30pm. (Central Time)
And we're going to test drive @hybridazn 's KZ Coral Snow, over night. ;Wideyed

Regards, GoVols

Alright...
First off have not done the weekly water change, yet.

Ran the KZ Snow overnight.

8:30pm kicked skimmer back on and got an immediate wet'r skim mate.

Checked skimmer at about 11:30pm and this it what the skim mate was looking like.

Checked skimmer at 8:30am this morning and this is what the skim mate looked like
0819171034.jpg

Kinda like removing ChemiClean look
Looked at skimmer few minuets ago and skim mate foam has idled back down from cup neck

Conclusion:
Very nice product. My tank does have the no water look and water surface water is just shimmering.
I can see myself dosing the KZ coral snow at least once a week.

Pics of reactor or it didn't happen lol
... ... :)

Welp,
I'm not adding fish, corals or lighting mods. Just humming along but (lol)... The ole tinker bug still lives inside.

So after weeks of more re-search.
Pulled the trigger on the Reef Octopus BR-MF-70 reactor.

Wanted a tighter chamber, loved the concept of the half moon shaped disk at the bottom and you can just dump in the Purigen
and then, put in the down pipe.

So, here were go...

Came with 1/2", 5/8" or 3/4" connectors. PVC glued the 1/2" connectors into the top and side screw-off bulk heads.

At first I did not want a side dis-charge reactor but (lol) last night I used the side dis-charge as a reactor mount to the sump rim and it's a perfect fit.
0818171951.jpg

Also you can see in the above  that the reactor never fills to the top, with the side dis-charge.

Still have some plumbing to go, but this is what we've got.

Did the Hanna match your Red Sea Alk test?

The new reactor looks great. I'm a paranoid type, so I put TLF hose clamps on all my flexible tubing, notice you're running without on your reactors.

After all the KZ Coral Snow talk, did we over or under sell the product?

Micheal,
I'm sorry but I have not opened the alk checker yet but when I do, I will post the results against the Red Sea Pro alk.

This is what I've been doing with the old Red Sea alk. (Heard there's an new and improved / green color refill)
I always make sure the plunger is at the 1ml mark and the air bubble at the .9 mark.
You don't find an exact end point color but you look for an end point change.
So, I've been finding the end point change and squeeze in on more drop for good measure and then I read the results.
I will be surprised ;Wideyed if it matches the Hanna but at least I've been doing the exact same procedure with the RSP pro.

Out of all the goody's that I received this week, the Hanna alk checker was priority #1 and an absolute must.

Thanks for your input on the hose clamps. If you look I have some stainless steal clamps in my old plumbing.
I will have the GFO reactor up and running by Monday. (Have a new Y connector coming in on Monday)

But I'm going to re-plumb with new tubing. If you look close at some of my shots, the manifold has dropped. :(
My original RS hoses are over 4 years old and the ends have gotten brittle and they have lost their elasticity.
Plus RS sent me just a long enough 1" hose to connect the main pump to the manifold. (No built in slack)
So, over the years the just long enough hose has been pulling down on the manifold and it's holding clips.
The clips are still attached to the manifold but the screws have pulled out from the bottom of the stand. I will be running all new 1" tubing with plenty of slack, drill new holes for the holding clips and going to use liquid nail too.

I think the KZ snow is just about what I was hoping for, between you and @hybridazn thoughts.
I have not done my weekly water change (Must get out of Lazy-Boy) and the S 400 has the no water look and the surface shimmer is great. So I think you and Hybird nailed it and I will keep dosing the KZ coral snow.

Lol,
Getting out of "Lazy-Boy" and preforming water change.

Freddie
