Hey guys, I ordered some ricordea mushrooms for my soft coral tank and got a little freebie coral too, it looks like some sort of plating lps/sps, but I’m just unsure, and I’m unsure what to do with it since I’m trying to not have to dose calcium/ magnesium. Anybody know what this is?

I fail to follow the reason for this decision but it’s your tank and your choice.
Well my tank is all soft coral right now and I don’t want something that is going to drain parameters and need dosing (alk, calcium) and it has stinger tentacles I heard so I don’t want to endanger my other soft corals. I also heard this coral was a really fast grower so I don’t want to take any chances. I know it’s wasteful but it is what I have chosen to do

I respect your choice but you could have asked first

Tiny frag won’t need dosing

All coral that grow use calcium and slk anyways

By fast growing you’re looking at 1/4” a month and it’s easily fragable by hand - imagine breaking a potato chip in half

Stingers are going to be less then half inch until it grows much larger, can put on top of a rock and never have it be an issue

Your tank your choice, just wanted to throw out some info

I’ll take your info to heart, I do feel a little guilty just throwing it out like I did, if I’m ever in a similar situation then next time I’ll just drive the 30 minutes to the lfs and donate it.

I think you’re right bro. I threw it out since I don’t want a mixed reef. Appreciate it
I would've done the same thing. That chalice is a fast grower and unless you really like that particular coral, the best course is to throw it out or give it away.
