Best I can do without completely remaking the stand or moving the sump out from underneath. The hole ain’t pretty, quite jagged and what not but I’ll work.

The main drain is 2x 45’s. I’ve heard so many different opinions about using 90’s…idk.

Had to tie the emergency drain up with 90’s though. Literally no other choice to make everything fit. I will now plan better in the future lol. I think it’ll work, nobodies gonna see that side anyways.
(I don’t have the gate valve just yet)

Yeah aside from the giant uneven hole in the side now lol! Nah I’m pretty happy with it.. might try to spruce up that hole with some trim or something. It’ll look better with a fresh coat a sand/paint. I had to wood fill the heck out of the edge with the hole too.. removed that piece of ply to make cutting a hair easier

She’s painted!

Again it ain’t perfect, but it’s got character :)

I built a little box to mount electronics. Might end up being painted to match and stay on the outside of the stand. Not sure yet. Went with a gloss white!

Have you flooded this yet? Would love to see an update.

Thanks for the reply, glad I got the e-mail notification because I have not updated in TOO LONG!

Since the last post life has been busy with travel, some fun, and other commitments...Pictures will be added below the post

Lets get this started.

1) I had originally planned to use some rare earth magnets to make some doors, I got the magnets in and they did not hold the plywood (should have gone thinner). I ended up scrapping that idea and enlisted the help of a good friend who is a trim carpenter. After politely confronting my amateur framework (lol) we got to work. He had some old cypress laying around and we proceeded to add another layer of trim with nice mitered edges and beautifully grained cypress. The doors are almost finished so the stand should be completed within the next week or so. We also squared/enlarged up the plumbing hole and that will allow the PVC to have some more wiggle room, it was very tight before..

2) I leak tested the tank twice - the first go I had some slight leaks but after making some adjustments (including a layer of silicone around the return bulkhead because I slightly chipped my drilling hole) she held up.

3) Still need to paint plumbing

4) I am eyeing a setup date of July 17-22 as the lady and step kids will be out of town and I can work in silence. This involves me ordering some TBS live rock sometime in the near future. I'm planning on seeding the tank with that and few small pieces from the 14.

Pics of the stand and current tank below. I am running out of room and fast. The SPS are doing extremely well, still have zoa issues, and most LPS are healthy. I can't freaking wait to give some pieces (alveopora, pectinia, favias ect) the room/display space they deserve....

I think I've also decided that I'm just going to pick up another Maxspect Jump and run two over the new build. For the price and results, I don't think I can do much better.

I’ve been doing a lot of work on this tank as of late, mostly algae scraping and pest cleanup. I let some patches of valonia establish but as of the last WC I think I’ve manually removed most all of it.

I’ve shifted around the rocks added and added some more flow. I fragged a good amount of the digi out a few weeks ago and it’s already coming back haha.

Here’s a few pics to celebrate the positive changes.

I tried to get a good photo of the TnT Anacropora - it’s doing so well.

New approach to the cyano: I haven't been testing my nutrients as much as I should have but this tank still EATS PO4. Last few times I've tested have been 0 and nitrates are like 2-4. I've started to dose a little neophos again to make up for whats missing. It's crazy how much more vibrant the corals are and the PE is wild. I am also going to suspend weekly WC's. I think I'm going to start doing either biweekly or monthly.

I also need to replace my RODI carbon block and sediment filter. Top down from today:)

Tank looks awesome!
Thanks!

I'm toying around with some ideas to get some more room at this point...Biggest problem with the 22 long is I just cant afford to light it properly at this time. I saw WB put out a 16 gallon that will fit the stand I built (width wise). I think then I can get away with the maxspect or upgrade to a hydra 32. Also, not drilling the tank peninsula style would make it way easier to run plumbing straight down the back..just spitballin'

Lunch pic from today - going on week 3 without WC’s. Tested nutrients and both came back near 0. I’ve been adding some PO4 and NO3 every few days and I can see a shift in the amount of time it takes for film algae to cover the glass. To my eyes it seems like the cyano is at least slowing down. Hoping this continues - there has been an increase in hair algae growth which I’ve been manually removing by hand. Corals look great though!
