Good morning. Hoping my fellow reefers in SC are safe. We got hit by a tornado this morning, through the Clemson/ Liberty/ Pickens area. My power had been out since 3:30. I pray the tank isn’t devastated by this. My little fresh tanks will be fine(bettas) but I do worry about the few corals and the fish in the Waterbox.

Glad you are safe and hoping power is restored reasonably soon. Just getting the early reaches of that storm here now.

Do you have any battery backup for some water movement? Otherwise, I'd recommend the pitcher method to keep some O2 in the water. Temperature is not much of an issue, just some gas exchange.

Sadly no battery backup. How often should I do the pitcher method? I’ll be leaving for work soon so won’t be here all day unfortunately.

OK sorry about that. My answer would be every 1/2 hour but it depends on fish load and how much waste needs to be processed and gassed off. Don't feed until power is back on.

Any chance you could get someone to pop in for a couple minutes throughout the day. Fill pitcher with tank water and dump it back in. The more movement and agitation the better.

Of course I am overlooking the likely fact that everybody has their own problems after a storm like that. Wishing you and your tank well.

My 75 gallon went many times for 8 hours. I didn't do anything during that time. Mix it good before you leave and it will most likely be fine.

Hopefully your power came back up while you were at work. Let us know how you are doing?

Yes, sorry. It did. We had internet issues afterwards. Lots of outages made it super hard to find even a mea for the evening.

The clowns and corals seem fine. I didn’t see the goby but that’s not really out of the norm.i did you he waterpitcher method right before we left. Seems to have helped :)
