Wow, memories
Mrs. Bugmaster, which one don't you know? There were actually about 10 more but I couldn't fit them in that post. :)

@Paul B, I think my favorite has to be the reminder of mercurochrome! That stuff was evil, and yes, my mother loved to use it on us. It made you never want to tell mommy you had a boo-boo!
Yeah what was in that? Battery acid? I think I still have some. I am sure it would cure ich.

Not many people today and certainly no one under 60 or more would know that small "starter" pedal on the right of the gas pedal. Cars didn't start by turning the key in the 40s. Many of them had that starter pedal under the gas pedal so you had to floor the gas to engage the starter.

The heavy battery cables connected to the starter motor through that then because starters didn't have solenoids then like they do now. Of course, before that you had to crank cars to start them but that is before my time although some of them were on the road then.

Of course the small floor button on the left was the bright light switch and my cars had that as all cars did. Nothing was controlled by the steering column except the horn.

I remember a woman on our block which was a dead end street in Queens New York.
Her name was Mrs. Snitcher and she had a Model T Ford that she drove to church every Sunday in the 50s. She cranked it to start it and I think it also steered with a stick instead of a steering wheel but I could be wrong as Model Ts had steering wheels. I think it was a 1907.

The Ford Motor Company took care of that car for her and they got it when she died.

Mrs. Jones was reading a letter at breakfast. Suddenly she looked up suspiciously at her husband. “Henry,” she said. “This letter is from my mother. She says she isn’t accepting our invitation to come and stay. She said we do not appear to want her. What does she mean by that? I told you to write and say that she was to come at her own convenience. You did that, right?”

“Er, yes, I did,” said her husband. “But I couldn’t spell convenience, so I went with ‘risk’ instead.”

I'm a little late myself. Long day with grandson sitting and pup training class. And then this happened...

Hammer.jpg

Hammer coral had gotten huge. I was looking at it last night thinking I needed to do something. Well, it took care of things for me. Husband was watching the tank with our grandson and said "some big coral just fell over." I thought, what on earth....yep, it was the hammer. The piece on the right is what I fragged off to keep and the blob on the left will go to the LFS tomorrow. It's really mad at me right now...
