Good morning. To think that we pay for the stuff that @Paul B just scoops out of the ocean! Speaking of pods, I probably need to order some.

Have a great day! :)
i've never seen what he was scooping for sale.

Thats because it's free and not regulated by law or any conservation organizations. There is no permit required and no one will check the size, sex or number of Amphipods. At least not yet. If someone in the Government knew what an amphipod was, you can be sure there would be laws and taxes on them. :anguished-face:

Right now I have a small tank full of the little buggers and they are probably not happy so I could probably be jailed for "CTP" or Cruelty to Pods. They are well fed, have places to hide, are in with their friends and family and in an hour I will throw them in my reef where the fast ones will find their way under a rock and live out their entire lives in peace.

Of course the slower, stupider ones will be fish food  Survival of the fittest but for the people who own cats, remember most of that cat food is made of fish and at one time those poor fish were happily swimming around the ocean minding their own business until some unscrupulous Heathen scooped them up to make food for your cat.

And if you feed your cats chicken, well thats the same scenario.

I ate shrimp and flounder last night but those creatures were harvested and kept in comfortable air and water conditioned enclosures for years until they died of old age. Then after a short ceremony, they were carefully and gingerly grilled to perfection under the watchful eye of a Priest and Rabbi. :D

I won't talk about my white worms. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Of course if you are the type of person who quarantines, medicates and goes to church to get your fish last rites if they die of uronoma, you can't do this.

If just one of the thousands of amphipods has a disease like Corona Virus and he happens to sneeze in your tank, you would have to vaccinate all of them. You may think finding an amphipod vein to put the needle in is the hard part, but it is not. The hard part is not getting alcohol in their eyes when you swab them. They hate that and don't like the "Visine" you would have to put in their eye to relieve the pain. :)

i think the pods that the barn sells are mostly water column type pods.
don't think any survive in my tank.
i have a huge population of amphipods in both systems.
my floating algae scrubbers are pod hotels. not quite as big as the version you have parked in your drive.
the baby cbb i have in the frag tub loves the amphipods.

Bear passed away Saturday night at home. It's like a tornado came through and tore off the left ventricle of our hearts. Everything here feels broken and pointless right now. Time will fix this but not enough has passed yet.

Good Morning. Woke up sore, was confused how sweating one day made you sore the next?
apparently i was too ambitious over the extended weekend with the garden.
and apparently you do need a meniscus, regardless of what a doc tells you.

Good Morning Reefies
late yesterday my just changed work password quit working.
so i did a complete system restart, because that's what IT always sez to do.
side note, you need your password to log in after the restart.
denied. password incorrect.
so i try the previous password and i get in.
i then try the previous password to log in to the security so i can access the office server.
denied. wrong password.
technically not possible as the security and start up password be one in the same.

with out access i can't turn in a ticket to the help desk.
IT are still sleeping anyways.
talked to the office manager and he's turning in a ticket for me.
he shared a list of IT related problems he's been having.

also shared that IT across the pond (where the home home office resides) keeps "fixing" things and then
local IT has to unfix them.

feels like a monday.

hav a fab day

i've never seen what he was scooping for sale.

There are a few places that sell the larger amphipods like @Paul B was scooping. I usually buy the smaller pods from the barn for my little possum wrasse in the BioCube, and also add some to my refugium in the 90. Pods for everyone! I actually thought of ordering some of the larger ones recently...@Paul B, you ship to TN, right? Maybe in one of those PODS trucks?

@WVNed, I am so sorry about Bear. Such a beautiful dog. Heck, I'm welling up now just thinking about what you all are going through. I understand completely. The urn still sits in the back of my closet from 11 months ago. It's going to stay back there for a while longer. I'm still not ready yet. Take care.
