Gonis are gorgeous and not crazy priced. if only they were easy to keep alive- often challenging to many

I've had a small (around 15 polyps) pale green goni for about a year now. When I first got it, it would occasionally fully extend its tentacles, but no longer does. It is in low to medium-low flow and has neither grown nor receded. About two months ago I started spot feeding reef roads two or three times a week.

Any ideas on how to get it to extend its tentacles again?

New member here! :yo: I didn't see a show-off thread for goniopora, but hopefully there are enough of us succeeding with flower pot corals to warrant one, because I would LOVE to see more of these! Here's mine:

Made this close-up pic my screen saver.
It's a bit pinker than it looks in person; I'd say the true color is halfway between the pink in close-up shots and the red you see in my FTS:

I don't know which species I have, but it's defied the difficult label these carry, since I do nothing special for it. I have low to medium flow in my tank and broadcast feed once or twice a week. I see it catch food each time, but I don't make any effort to target feed.

I bought it as a tiny frag in a local shop about a year and a half ago:

One of my best coral purchases to date! Anyone else have one doing well?

I'm going to try and post an image of a new goniopora I picked up this weekend when the lights are on later. It's kind of unique/rare - it's a crimson red encrusting goniopora - really tiny polyps that look like red velvet or moss on a rock. I've never seen one like this before so naturally I had to snag it.

Taken with an orange filter, the greens aren’t quite that neon!

Does anyone else have trouble with stinging? My big green one stung every Goni and had to be isolated and my red long tentacle seems to get stung by every thing and also needed to be isolated! Most can touch but some will definitely sting.
