I'm working on figuring out the best settings for my Gyre XF350 pumps in this new tank. I have them mounted on opposite sides of the tank, and right now they are set at 100% on random mode, but with the huge crater in my sand bed, I'm thinking that may not be my best setting. LOL What are you guys running yours at?

I have a biocube 32, I don't think it's much help but just my 2 cents, I'm right now with a nero 3 in random mode, my return pump and another powerhead below for the sanbed in constant mode

How big is your tank? I have the same ones running 50% random on a 6’ tank. Then 3 times a day, 1 runs 70 and the other 30 in reverse for 15 minutes. Then they switch rolls, then back to random. At night they drop to 40%.

At 50% in my tank my lion fish gets pushed around a little. The rest of the fish don’t mind. Once coral gets going it will change things up a little. Here is my rock for reference. Tank is 72x24x26

I would have the same hole in the sand in the center if my big flat rock was not there. These things move some water.

I use the lunar tidal cycle setting, start them at 40% and slowly work up to 100% over the course of 6-8 weeks as they get dirty and push less water. Clean them and restart at 40%. They are super powerful so not surprising that 100% was a bit too much, even in a 6 ft tank.

Man, I'm jealous. Wish I had the cloud edition.
I bought 2 330's and put one on my tank, plugged it in and it's running.

These modern pieces of equipment, I don't want to operate them with my phone.

I have a Razor light on my fish tank, I'm certain it's under utilized but I'm fully cloud dysfunctional from an operators standpoint. All these whiz-bang programming functions don't make whiz for me.

Good luck setting up your new tank! Are you still going to get a Tusk fish?

I think I have mine set too low. Started out moving too much sand, and I turned them down. In my redsea 900 I used the fine sand. Thinking of getting the coarser and hoping the mix will stay put better. Think I max out at 50

I have mine pointed in three directions in a 4’ tank going no more than 40% random-ish. This is a mixed reef and I have two octopulse 4’s running, too. I have good flow all around with a lot of rock.

I like running flow pumps below 50%.

I had dual ice cap 4k on a hydros wave engine and didn’t care for it! I ran them at 100% sps reef on my tank that’s very similar to yours.. They move water but clog up so fast and require so much cleaning I went with a bunch of mp40’s and never gonna look back! lol.. I’d say you can run them around 60% till your tank grows out then you’ll need to crank them as corals start changing all the flow and filling in all the voids.

I run my gyres a bit differently. I have them on opposite ends, and I only run one at a time, alternating every 60-90 minutes.

So have the left one on 100% random for an hour, then switch to the right one at 100% random for an hour.

I just used 100% random as an example. You could use any flow settings you like, but doing it this way generates more of a "current" than just two pumps fighting it out all the time.

I have two icecap 4k pumps that are mounted horizontally a few inches below the water surface on opposite ends of my 4ft 100 gallon tank. They are connected to a hydros controller and I run them in gyre mode that alternates directions every 40 seconds. At any given time one pump is running forward and the other is running in reverse. My flow ranges from 30-50% with a schedule that ramps up flow as my lighting intensity increases. I use a coarser sand and this setup actually produces slight ripples in the sand bed.

In a 4 ft 120 gallon tank I have two Jabao SCP pumps a 90 vertical down the right side very near the rear wall and 120 horizontal four inches below surface . on left side of tank half way down center I have a MP40 and on back wall to the left of my overflow I have a MP40. The two Jabao SCP pumps are running at 60% constant flow and the MP40 do all the random flow stuff. Lots and lots of flow fish don’t mind and the coral are digging it. I spent over a year adjusting this flow and that flow, sure the fish and corals loved the tinkering but I haven’t touched a pump setting in over a year and half so I hope everyone is happy.

In my tank that huge crater turned into 2'+ of completely bare bottom in my otherwise sand bottomed tank. I just filled that area with corals, problem solved!

Fwiw, my gyres are configured in a similar fashion and I run them at 100% power and random mode as well. I also have some knock of Nero pumps as well. I think they are the equivalent of the Nero 5. I still want more flow :)

This is in a 6' 125g tank.
