Laying on the coach and trying to relax after cleaning my skimmer while replacing a rattling impeller….i needed a break (I have some health and vision issues so even these simple tasks are exhausting and painful actually)! I mean, seriously….i just finished, grabbed a bev, plopped down and “click…,gurgle, gurgle, gurgle, psssssss, dah la dah bee bah (who the heck came up with those Neptune apex alarm sounds anyway?)” Dog starts freaking out, evidentially Neptune has a hidden dog whistle track. Cats are at the back corner of the tank by the wall…splish, splish “hey, right here…there’s wet stuff over here”. Floors a little wet, not horrible. Feeling around (I have very little vision) and the back of the cabinet is damp, the wall behind the tank is damp, powerhead cables wet, electrical cords damp but not wet….all the way to the top of the tank. What the heck? Feeling around some more to get a grip on what’s happening…….”squirt” right in the freakin eye!…..full on money shot from a trochus snail at the waterline! More squirts! From every angle! I think every single Trochus I have was up at the rim Jackson Pollocking the entire wall behind the tank! I’m thinking total jinx as I had just replied yesterday to revs post about cloudy water with a story about trochus snails years ago. Anyway, got cleaned up….i feel so dirty and cheap…wiped down the wall, the back of the tank, all the cables. Removed the power cables and cleaned the contacts and plugs. Put it all together and reset the gfcis (they got two seperate circuits!). All is fine. I’m off to take a long shower of shame. I hope it doesn’t smell like sex and candy in the morning.
