So my tanks about 2 months old now, noticed the Brightwell Aquatics substrate in my fuge is looking like it needs a cleaning. I am growing chaeto right now under one of the $25 marineland LED fixtures. Id like to add something go stir the substrate. Its about a 1 1/2 inch bed. Its close to 10 gallon capacity. Was thinking of adding 3 nassarius snails and a sand sifting star. What would be the most beneficial?

From what I've read sand sifting stars slowly starve to death in all but the biggest of tanks. Nassarius would be a good choice though.

+1 Think the SS star is too much for the 10 gal. Stick with the nassarius, they do well at stirring.

To get rid of debris and detritus tho, I'd go with a detrivore kit or some mini brittle stars which will multiply like crazy in the right environment.

I had a sand sifter starve in an established 40 gal with a 20 gallon sump fuge. I love the nas snails though. Great little creatures.
