I am still miles away from where i wanna be...but there are some awesome modes. One i recently found to enjoy was "Freeze People", tried it out with some fish and here is what i got. Now if i could just learn how to take the Blue LED photos...i have heard a few people mention taking my pics in RAW format instead of Jpeg - Haven't tried but its my next attempt. Honestly i really love the D3100 but there is so many different things to play with - White balance, aperture, contrasts, modes, etc....it can be daunting.

Great pics! Looks like you had a willing participant! Love the pink cap in the bottom pic.

How is your dragon soul favia doing? Is it settling in nicely? Was hoping to see you in the favia/acan buy! Next time ;)

Thanks - Yeah that clown is always hogging the spotlight...or biting me lol.

THe dragon soul is still hanging on but receeded a little bit more...i dont think it is going to make it but ya never know.

Yeah the acan/favia growout looks awesome btw!! Wish i could have joined but i have some big ticket items this year to deal with so i really cant do much in the reef game...its killing me but next year it will be back on. Til then i gotta just enjoy what i got.....reminds me i gotta tend to my tank. LOL

Man, that sucks about the dragon favia. Do you have any idea what the issue is? Is it giving any feeding response?

I know what you mean, don't you have a wedding/honeymoon coming up? I talked to some people a couple months ago about their honeymoon in the carribean and said that it was perfect, lots of diving and places you could walk in from so you didn't have to get a boat, but I don't remember which island.

If you can swing the airfare Fiji is amazing and you can really find some cost concious options once you are there. It is getting there that hurts. Let me know if you have any questions about Fiji and I can help you out.

The dragon soul is just real touchy...and of course i now have some hermits because i was battling some HA and those guys have been bugging the frag too. It still have 2 eyes and has been eating so there is a chance but its slim. Everything else in my tank is fine.

Yup wedding in November and planning for a honeymoon...and we are funding it all so my tank is taking a backseat as well as everything else lol. Yeah Fiji would be amazing but flights are $1500 each at least from south florida...so the Caribbean is just a cheaper, faster more convenient choice. We just recently found a great resort on the Turks and Caicos and after some research we are planning on going there....very excited.

Well the majano wand came in and i have tried using it a few times...It is really tough to use since most aiptasias are deep in some holes. It seems to work but takes multiple uses to fully eradicate it. Now that i have a tripod i will try to get some vids or pics of it in action.

I did manage to get a FTS shot though with the new Tripod. You can see some of the HA that i have been dealing with GRRRR

Too bad its a nano tank, I got a full grown purple tang from a local and he eats ha like theres no tommorrow, but he wont touch the caulerpa growing my DT.

Anemonekeeper - Yeah i would love to have a tang for that issue. No worries though - I am planning on pulling everything out of the tank, replacing 99% of the sand, shaving/chiseling/molding/reshaping the rocks, and reaquascape the tank. This will help get rid of a lot of what i dont want while cleaning up things a bunch. I just gotta find a day that i can spend hours working on it.

Try turbo snails, those should do the trick too. I wouldnt smash the rock like that, or remove the sand.

LOL - I had already had some plans to do a new massive aquascape. Its not really the algae but a combination of things and really wanting something different. Also once i changed my bulb the algae stopped growing...it has been on a slow decline lately.

Well its been a while since an update. My hair algae has mostly gone away since i swapped a new light in. Now i am just trying to get motivated for new aquascaping project. I have finally finished reading everything i want and now making a list of materials. I have tried drawing a layout but unless i can draw in 3D...i am just gonna wing it and hope for the best....plus without knowing what my live rock currently looks like i can realistically plan it out. I'm a control freak so that bothers me. But i am hopeful that anything is better then my current setup and a decent amount of rock with be taken out which will be nice and less cluttered.

Heres the list of items i intend to get:
-Sand (Caribsea Aragonite or Tropic Eden Reeflakes) Planning to replace it all except about a cup full of my old sand.
-Freshly mixed saltwater
-Long Masonary Bit(s) 3/8"
-Black Zip Ties (various sizes)
-Pond Foam (Beckett Brand)
-Super Glue (Lots)
-Aquamend or something similar
-Driveway Markers (Fiberglass Rods)
-Acrylic Rods (Maybe just a couple)

Still trying to figure out if i will do one large pillar with a ton of branches or an "L" shape with two pillars and some arcs and overhangs. Or something like a half circle with a large cove in the middle. As you can tell...its bugging me not knowing. The other thing i am trying to figure out is whether to just use a large rock as a base or use a large flat piece of acrylic to attach the rods to.

As for my tank things are still doing pretty good. With exception of my aiptasia issue. Hoping to cut most of them out in the aquascape....then after the aquascape grab a few berghias if still needed. My corals are doing good - However my dragon soul did bite the dust but it wasn't a surprise. Only other issue is my large red chalice has a weird coloration in the middle of it....kind of like a film but it isn't receding or anything. I have read up on brown jelly but that seems to be fast and this is super slow. So i am just watching it to make sure it is okay...maybe it will just go away. I should have taken a picture but i have been horribly lazy lately.

Sorry this is much of a good update but i am trying to get motivated....help me people lol.

Take your time on the new aquascape. I rushed mine and regret it now. Somewhere down the line I will be doing like you and redoing it.

Life Update - So for those following my thread you know that recently i have been planning an overhaul. I have been gathering all the stuff i need for my reaquascape and was close to getting starting. Unfortunatley (and fortunately) i never did it...yet. My life for the last 3 weeks has been quite stressful and my tank has been neglected. Work is outta control with a project I managing, my car's clutch went, my compressor for my house died last weekend, a vet bill for my dog that was insane and, I tried to do some landscaping a couple weeks ago by cutting down 2 trees but i got hit with a code voilation from the town...didnt know you need a permit from the town. Then we had to buy a new tree and grind the stumps to pass the code and we chopped up 2 sprinkler lines in the process. I had fun fixing those the past weekend. Needless to say my stress level has been close to red alert. Even worse was my house at 92 degrees and my tank sitting at 86-88. I nearly lost it watching my corals colors getting bad. Luckily we had the compressor fixed the following day, my clutch (after 2 weeks) was fixed yesterday, my next inspection for the tree is tomorrow (fingers crosses we pass this time). So well it was a rough patch this are finally getting back to normal minus lots of $$$$$$. Did i mention i am planning for a wedding in November lol...yeah stress sucks!

I havent even had time to see things around here at R2R.
My tank seems to have handled the temp spike fairly well and i dont think i will lose anything. I finally today will get in there and tidy up a few things that are overgrown. Hoping to get my aquascape day planned for maybe this weekend. Outside of that life is good...and happy to be back until work calls me away!!

Thanks for letting me vent!
