Going to be setting up a 24 x 24 frag tank. (no SPS)
I have a couple questions

1) is it sustainable to have this tank operate without fish?

2) what’s the best way to get enough nutrients in the system?.. use filtration to strip it and use dosing, or would feeding the corals be enough? (setting up the tank to give me a place to store coral frags from DT as a back up incase something happens to them in the DT, so probably won’t any water from there, try to keep it seperate)

Thank you :)

I am trying a 2.5g pico frag tank myself. I called down the filtration but kept the lighting. I am inducing through water changes from a larger tank. Hoping this transfers what I need into this build and I am not planning to dose at all. Pics are up on insta @littlesaltyreef

Same as any frag tank. Monitor it and dose appropriately. Calcium, alkalinity for sure and probably phosphorus and nitrate.

Why no fish? I have a small frag tank I’m working on and will use freshwater mollies. I acclimated them to saltwater. They’re cheap, algae eating workhorse, and because they’re acclimated, no worry about them carrying disease because diseases of freshwater fish die in the salt environment.
