Hello All - need some help! Our foxface is acting completely normal but we noticed he has discoloration spots on his body. They generally go away after a day or so but we cannot figure out why it is happening. We have a mixed reef, some LPS, SPS corals and Nems. Attaching a picture to see if anyone else has had this issue before.

These fishes are notorious for body changes in coloration. Generally they are not an indicator of a disease but may be caused by stress? They are big worriers and with time they usually stop the behavior and remain one color pattern.

This is not stress marks but that of anemone or more suspect - urchin spine marks as they tend to get too close to urchins for some reason. If you do have urchin, this is what you see and will heal on its own

I have seen bite marks from a tang that were circular, or semicircular. Not sure your's look quite the same, but just thought I would mention it.

I just posted today in Reef2Reef basically the same question! My Foxface came up with the exact same mark! No urchins but I do have a big Nem! Did the mark eventually go away?

Yes! I think he learned his lesson. I 100% think it was from the Nems. He is healthy and I have not seen anymore spots. They will go away in a couple days!
