If you wanted to use one of my favorite lights, the Fluval Marine Nano, you could probably get away with mounting it inside the lid. Or could cute a whole in the lid large enough for the LEDs but smaller than the housing and rest the light on the lid (I would use spacers/bumpers). I use little clear rubber pads from the hardware store (think meant for furniture) and use them to lift the lights off my lids and to keep them from slipping.

Or just ditch the lid and use whatever mount fits your new light

Update water quality getting better after investing in a ro . Everything will come in line my hardest task will be reducing phosphate it will be we’ll soaked into the live rock so it will just take time to control because it will leach back out . But hopefully I will get it under control. But it is high 1 . Photo of the tanks progress so far bit of green on the live rock but this will stop as phosphate lowers

This is totally unrelated to the topic but do you like the blade lights? been thinking of upgrading my flex to use those lights but not sure if there is still enough white light to be able to see.

Been thinking of changing the lights but too what over the top light or glass lid or mesh but evaporation control with using the mesh lid and gravity fed auto top up would sort it but .l don’t like the tank top open too much incases my wife’s cleaning products come in contact with the tank water . Someone said they use fluval nano lights and he had clear corex sheet on top and layed them on top . Is your flex the 34L one same as the one I have .

i have the 32.5 gallon flex, but you might want to check out kraken reef they have clear lids with an option for mesh too for all the fluval flex's. If I upgrade my lights Im probably going to get a lid from them.

Went to my LFS well I say that it’s a two hour journey each way but I love going to see what they have . They had some nice fish and coral but I love my nems . So I ended back home with another BTA . Floated for 45 mins then dripped for 1and a half hours then placed in the tank looking happy but will probably move to its happy place . So there are some photos for you to look at
