Hello,

I have a waterbox 50.3 with currently on one side a maxspect gyre jump & the other side 2 wavemakers (jebao sow3 & sow4)

But for some reason i just can’t get the flow right.
all of my heavy flow comes from the right side with occasionally very light flow from the left.

Could somoene point me in the right direction on how to set this up so i can have flow moving from both sides?

I added a picture of my setup.

Is your Gyre on the right side? And is this an AC pump? From what I saw, I fear so.

I'd recommend 1 gyre on each side set to counter-sync or random flow. Almost guaranteed flow from all sides, expecially on a tank that size. Hygger makes affordable (and in my opinion better quality than jebao) gyres, give it a look. I use a hygger and a maxspect in my frag tank one on each short end and love them. The hygger controller is also more robust than the jebao ones, in my opinion.

My gyre is a maxspect, it’s the wavemakers that are jecods

Have you tried turning the gyre vertical and aiming each side of it to where you want flow?

that's ok! may I ask too then, what's the problem you're trying to solve? Do you have any livestock that isn't happy? If not, nothing to worry about. Just place any coral frags you add according to the level of flow in that area. Most corals, especially softies and LPS, don't require much flow relative to popular opinion.

The problem i’m trying to solve is the flow only coming from one side, i would love to see it alternate from left to right.

My corals are happy & theres no fish because of fallow period ha.

that sounds like a classic case of one of the reefer's most common downfalls - if it aint broke don't fix it! Happy corals = leave lighting and flow alone!

If you still cannot get the flow right with horizontal, vertical and/or pointing the Gyre up and away, you may want to upgrade to the DC type X330. Those you can tamp down to a level which is good for your situation.

Now, @TX_REEF, the previous poster, has a VERY good point. Despite the differences between the sides of the tank, if the corals are happy, they really don't care. They're already taken care of. AND you would have differing flow rates to take care of different types of corals.

Upping this post.

Still can’t get my flow right for my own liking. The corals are happy yes, but still flow is coming mostly from one side and it shows the corals growing that way…

Anyone who can give me advice for positioning my gyre & wavemakers?

I have 2x gyre 350 and 3x MP40's in mine. I run the Gyres on a alternating 5 min cycle, first one, then the other, the MP40's I placed on the back wall to push the water into turbulence in the tank, Corals seem to love this, it creates a ton of varied flow in the tank.

You could do something similar, put the small wave makers on the back wall, and the gyre on one end. Might get the results ya want, if it doesn't add more wave makers.

My 3 ft tank, maxspect gyre on the right in random mode, 2x sicce wavemakers on each side facing each other paired up in sinusoidal mode, abdctgevrrturn top right facing the side glass, moderate flow all around the tank, obviously everyone's rocks are different so it's a case of playing around (as I was most of yesterday)

Wouldn’t placing the gyre on 1 side of the tank cause the flow to come even more from 1 side?

I'd move the jebaos up and aimed at each other with the control set to w2 and dial in the speed with the knob. Just my 2 cents. Good luck

Edit: BTW. I'd do this with the gyre removed. Then I'd add the gyre if and/or where necessary for additional movement

Gyre on for 5 minutes, off for 5 minutes cycle. In the ocean water flows one way for 12 hours, then flows the other way as the moon pulls the mass of it. The wave makers on back wall should compensate for the intermittent 1 way flow, but if the corals are still growing lopsided....add more wavemakers.
