Brilliant!!! I like the PVC diy holder as well. I'm building my first saltwater tank with same type of reef ready set up but just noticed you have your returns coming over the center? Can you expand on that and what type of drains you are running. I'm in the middle of studying the different kinds and looking for some guidance here. Any help much appreciated.

The tank came stock with two holes at the bottom in each overflow box. One is meant for the drain and the other was for the return. I made the return into an emergency drain that stays dry all the time. If there's ever a blockage in the main drain, the emergency drain then kicks in. Thus the returns coming over the top in the middle. The drain type is druso.

Awesome work love the setup. Did you have to cure the hydrolic cement or is it good to go on its own?

No, it cures quickly. You have to make it in small batches and use it quickly!

Expanding my horizons with micro foods! Just a test right now. Want to expand to large scale soon. Phytoplankton as well.

Mind going into further detail of the mars aqua modifications you made and the responses you have gotten from your coral (mainly on your SPS)? I have two mars aquas over my 40 breeder and love the lights. They grow all of my SPS just fine, which is most of my coral but they could use some help with blending..

Mars aqua diode layout

I replaced the 3500k's and 7500k's with 14000k's and 20000k's. This mimics closely to SB reeflights diode layout.

I have them at 13" above waterline .
I removed ALL lenses, this greatly reduces or eliminates shadowing and the "disco" effect. You still have some shimmer effect. This greatly improves the color blending and adds more crisp white blending with the blues.

Corals have responded exceptionally well to the change. SPS frags have accelerated tissue growth over their plugs, where they had stalled. Polyp extension is the biggest change. Never seen such extension before. Full and "fury". Color has improved, especially in my monticaps, they too are "fury" with polyp extensions.
Especially zooxanthellae density!
