Flame Angel HLLE?

Looking to see if I can get an assist in confirming the nature of the white “scrape” marks on my flame angels face. I’ve had him for 4 months now and he had a very very small “scrape” on him at time of purchase (went through a 40+ day QT prior to being sold).

He’s boss hog in the tank and all other fish (wrasses, royal gramma, flame hawk, Pearly Jawfish) steer clear of his path.

It may very well be but can you post pi under full white lighting, Blue lighting flushing image due to red fish.

If the lesions are more of less equal on both sides, then it is HLLE. The spots in front of the eye are for sure HLLE, I just can't tell if the spots behind the eye are the same.

One thing - the fish looks REALLY thin in the photo. It may just be the way it is curled in the photo, can you post a video under white light so I can assess it better?

That does look like a type of HLLE known as epithelial thinning.
However, the more serious issue is the thinness of the fish - the sunken back in the second picture shows this. I can’t tell you if this issue is from the fish not being fed enough or if it has some malabsorption issue. What are you feeding it and how often?

I too seeing sunken back, signs of aggression based on tail damage and some malnutrition. If youre feeding flake and pellet only- This is not a proper diet

Eeek. pellets / flake mix 2x daily . Frozen mysis about 2-3x week, and nori sheet once per week.

I’ve been out out of town the last few weeks so it was just pellets/flakes while I was away though.

I’ve got some Selcon and more purple nori coming tomorrow so will definitely work on fattening him up.

I would up the mysis to daily and increase the amount - feed to the point where the fish stops eating.

That is an emaciated Flame Angel. If you don't know that then definately you are not feeding enough. Feed him more and he will recover, hopefully. He may be to the point of no return. You should feed him at least once or twice a day until he stop eating his favorite food. I am alway sad when I see emaciated fish. Put them in your water box, you just got to care for them.
