hello everyone! i have a mean lean yellow tang that loves to bully my blue hamlet. He's been going at it for almost 2 and a half weeks; so I've come to the conclusion i want him out. I really don't want to pull out a lot of my live rock so I'm wondering if anyone has a fish trap? If not i think I'm going to buy one, and if anyone ever needs to use it id be glad to load it to em, because i mean fish; is a dead fish to me, and my tank friends :p
Thank you!
-Josh

Start feeding ONLY in a net. Put the food in the net and then sit the net down in the tank with the handle sticking up out of the water. Make sure it's in a place flow is low enough the food doesn't blow out. The fish, driven by hunger, will eventually begin swarming in there for the food each time you feed. It makes catching them much easier. My fish will fight to get into the net.

Gonna need to buy a bigger net then :)

[ QUOTE Joshua Hurst] Hey guys; i just thought id say not to only care for your corals,
and fish, but love them too!!!!
;Shifty
I love all my fishes; I've had this tang since the beginning of my tank. But he's now killed my fox face, and has scaring up my blue hamlet; allowing him to stay in my tank kills other fishes. Is it loving of a fish tank owner to allow the tang to beat up my other fish unit they give up from stress. NO! Sorry next time ill be sure to be as clear as i can possible be; seems hard to say anything on r2r anymore without constant criticism

Your tang could be feeling crowded. If I'm remembering correctly, you have a 50 or 55 gallon tank. I'm not a member of the tang police, but that's definitely not enough room for a yellow tang AND a foxface. Which would explain the beatings and deaths.

He's been a problem since about the second month i had him; he always loved to make a fight with the panther grouper. I'm not sure if he killed him to or not, but its possible. Seems weird for a tang right?

I would have to agree that 55g is pretty small for a tang of any sort, whether it has other fish in the tank or not. They just need more room than that to swim. I have a 120 and feel like it is too cramped for my foxface and sailfin. They are the only 2 large fish I have in there. However, if you do want to get her out, the best $50 I ever spent was on this fish trap. I used a clip and put seaweed in the back of it. If you just wait, you lower the string and the door, and wah-lah!

I understand that, but I 55g tank is not a lot of room for a tang. A quick look around the internet will give you a minimum range of 75-100g. No wonder it's acting out.
Wow! Bein the newb to fish keeping about a year ago I trusted The Aquariums advice on everything, and didn't think to look him up. He'll be glad to be out soon thanks to @cracker

I have two sailfins, two yellow tangs, copperband butterfly, red coris wrasse, a hippo tang, and a few other fish, in a 125g tank. The tangs are all abut 4-6" long. Most of the time, they are all within about 30 gallons of each other. They tend to all stay together, except for a couple loaner type fish that hide most of the time. I think fish are like kids in a way. If they grow up learning to share what they have, they dont fight as much as they get a little older.
