Hello all iv had my tank about 5 months now and its been going great! I have macros and a few corals that are doing great but one issue i keep running into is when i feed my macros some chatto grow I always always have hair algae out the butt. I was wondering if there is anything safe for macros that will mow the stuff down? I know i could dose less but I have some dragons breath and red ogo which REALLY like the added nutrients (they are getting huge and nice orange tips across) so id prefer to keep dosing twice a week.
Stocking currently is
55 Gallon
87 pounds of rock
5 months Old as of writing this
2 ocellaris clowns
2 juvenile engineer gobies
1 Carpenter Fairy Wrasse
1 Strawberry conch/tiger conch
6 trochus snails
roughly 12 blue leg hermit crabs
Toadstool coral
Rose Bubbletip
Duncan Coral

Thank you for any recommendations!

Hair algae is a type of macro, and often less palatable than the dragons breath and ogo, IME. You may be stuck removing the gha manually.
yeah thats what i was thinking. Someone did tell me a kole tang would do the job but i didnt trust it since they at least texturally look very similar (also i am not comfortable putting a kole tang in a 55 it just seems too small to me)

i thought urchins ate macros as well (well the desirable ones at least)
