I just picked up these 6 chromes for my fish store. They qt them for 2 weeks in copper. All 6 of them looked good until about 3-4 hours ago. I moved the fish that wasn’t looking good into this little cage. What do you think is going on?

Can’t see the video, so I don’t know symptoms your fish have, but if it’s Chromis you’re referring to my money is on uronema. Do they have any red sores on their bodies? Copper won’t treat uronema. Formalin is the only effective treatment that I’m aware of.

Humblefish has some good info on uronema on his forum. The fish medics here can help you too.

I don’t see any red sores. The fish is breathing fast.

How did you acclimate them to your tank? Did you temperature and salinity match? A lot of stores keep their salinity at 1.022 or below which is fine for Fish only but can cause acclimation issues when you transfer the fish to a system at 1.025 or so. Sometimes it can even kill the fish.

I can see the video and good news- Not uronema however were you using cupramine or coppersafe and at what level? How were you testing the copper level?
I dont recommend copper treatment for damsels but rather general cure or chloroquine phosphate
I dont see this as an acclimation issue which would have taken effect sooner that 2 weeks

I think you are right about the store keeping it at 1.022. I temp acclimated and then drip acclimated for 15 ish minutes. Idk what it change the salinity to but that could be the problem. Why would only one fish be affected by this. The only thing that doesn’t look good is the way it is sitting still vertically and heavily breathing

I don’t know what level and what type of copper was being used because they were quarantined by someone else that I trust. He has quarantined many of my fish and all have done well. I can ask him tomorrow. The fish is breathing fast and is laying still vertically

Acclimation issues are annoying because not every fish will react in the same way. Hopefully they all pull through for you. The behavior is what makes me think this is the shock people typically see with acclimation issues.

That is my concern as copper exposure may have affected the fish

That might be possible but what should I do about that? It also could have been an acclimation problem.
Acclimation issues generally occur the first few days . As for copper, if high level, you'll have to await outcome

Ok. If this fish dies over night will it cause a big nitrate spike or anything? It’s a small fish so I wouldn’t think so.

It should not and if you have cleanup crew, they may eat it

Fish in video moribund and likely will not eat or swim normal moving forward. Sad to see but these are or can be touchy fish from the onset and acclimation along with a 60 minute ruby rally pro bath offers their best chance of stamina and survival

Yup he just died. Only 3 out of the 6 are left. The three that are left are swimming and eating great which I guess is a good sign.
