So I’m finally looking to invest in a tank and start my own little collection of fish and coral.

I’m totally new to this, so I’ll be trawling this forum for every last bit of guidance and useful tips that I can find.

We’re currently decorating the living room, where the tank will be going, so the plan is to have my shopping list in place for as soon as we’ve finished decorating! :winking-face:

Due to the size of the area, I’m looking at buying a Red Sea Max Nano G2 (as I’m reliably informed that it’s a great quality all in one!).

Looking forwards to getting this new hobby cracking…

As stated, be patient. There will always be the temptation to go quickly. Do not so this. Go slow. If you keep to that bit of advice, the probability of success is greatly increased. For example, with my next tank, I'm gonna treat my cycle as 4 months long. Just going at a snails pace. Lights off x2 to 2.5 months and no stocking until 2 months. In wanna make sure the Bacterial Colonization is such that it coats everything in the tank, thus minimizing the ugly phase. So. I like to ramble! Welcome to the Boards!

Welcome.
Patience is key. Also, I would recommend you watch the BRSTV series of setting up your tank. It can save you a lot of time but especially a lot of money by avoiding common mistakes.
Agreed. There is some good information there. But at the same time they are selling product. Sometimes I feel that is just as important to them as giving out good advice. Be careful about this and ask questions when you're not sure.
