Agreed. I’m glad I went with a quality tank and not a marine land or the like. I can sleep at night not worried about glass breaking. The good news is that you have plenty of time to stock the tank.
It's better to spend the money on a solid build up front.
Wonderful build! I have some Orphek bars and hope they do not have the same fate. That would really bum me out.
I love Tunze and ATI
How do you like the acrylic tank? I am tempted to get one with an upgrade because of how lite they are. Also it feels like a safer option around small children.
I hope yours don’t either! I think there are a lot people using them with success so don’t get too stressed about it
so far I love the tank. It looks very sharp. It hasn’t scratched nearly as easily as people led me to believe - though I’m being quite careful with it. Once I get the first deep scratch I’m sure I’ll be sad lol. Took me and 3 other guys to get it down the stairs but only my dad and I were able to lift it and place it on the stand alone. I’m guessing it weighed 180-200 lbs.
I pretty much had to go acrylic for this reason — there was no way we were getting a glass tank down there (I live on a steep hill so no way to come in from the bottom level either). I also feel better about it when it comes to earthquakes and any further settling in my home.
