I got my first corals about a week ago and they don't seem to be doing well. This is my first coral and I just got into saltwater recently. I got monti and favia from the local reefer. It seems like these are lps and sps and I wasn't sure if these are the right coral for beginners but the seller was adamant that these are easy corals for beginners. My thoughts were to qt these corals while I was building up my 75 gallon tank. It has 2 clownfish and the parameters are good in the display tank. I have these two corals in 10 gallon qt tank but I'm not sure if these corals are doing well. Favia seems to be turning grayish/white on the surface.

some params:
salinity 35, temp 80f, test strip shows 8.4ph 10 nitrate, 1 nitrite. Using instant ocean purple by itself.
I did 50% water change few days ago and no feeding so I'm not sure how accurate nitrite and nitrate levels are from the test strip. I kept the lighting at low side since my research showed that you should start with low light and go up as high light can cause bleaching.

Any thoughts on what might be an issue? Thank you in advance.

Favia tend to like lower light, Montis tend to like higher light. Both tend to like slightly "dirty" water with nitrates and phosphates if you're not feeding the.

The Favia looks puffy which is good, but if it's lightening up, it likely wants a little less light.
