Finally set up my quarantine tank (:

As a review of the chaeto hamster ball, I LOVE it. I feed my QT much less than my DT, but I believe it really helps keep my nitrates under control. They always read zero! I have messed up so many times since I last updated my thread, but I am learning so much about nursing corals back to health!

I don’t keep the corals in there for more than a month before moving them to my display tank, and I keep the hamster ball in place by running zip ties through it and securing it loosely the light fixture.

Guys, my tank came with live rock when I first started it, and I think I have vermetid snails. Can anyone ID these weird tubes and say if they think they’re vermetid snails? I have only recently learned about them and am now considering starting my tank over with dry rock that I plan to cycle myself. Any thoughts?

Looks like vermetids to me. Don’t know if it’s worth restarting with dry rock. IMO the biodiversity that comes with live rock is worth the occasional pest. I recommend trying to get rid of them manually first. That’s what I’d do anyway!

Thank you! I will try that and see how it does. I just didn’t want my corals to suffer from them.

had some of those as well. I mean removed as many as a could with bone cutters. seems to have worked

Worst case they’ll just get a little irritated but that’s only likely if you broadcast feed. Their mucus nets might nab food from the water column and or corals. If you ask me the worst thing about them is they’re just an eyesore haha.
