Finally, Red Sea mat and skimmer in… a tip or two?!

My reefmat 1200 doesn’t always add enough filter sock when the water rises. I have to manually hit the button with auto advance turned on. Doesn’t the metal tips on the black one clip on supposed to advance filter when water hits it till the water goes down?

Yes. I upgraded to the 1200 model this summer from the 500 model and it works identical. What I found on the 1200 is that with the larger fleece rolls, it sometimes doesn't "grip" it enough. So what I've been doing is to take a 6" strip of masking tape and use that to tape the end of the fleece roll to the waste spool when replacing a new roll. It seems to help.

You can also adjust the amount that the ReefMat 1200 advances. I have mine set to 2.0-2.2" so it advances less frequently.

Masking tape … yes a good idea. Will do that when I change rolls.
