No livestock additions have been made. This hobby is so much fun though. Currently am letting the microcrustaceans populate the front glass along with the side glass. My kids love watching them move around. I have been using a hand lens and can get great quality pictures!

I’ve also had some fan worms pop up which are super cool to watch. Waiting for my phosphates to come down after finding my DI resin was exhausted letting through quite a bit.

My PH has been on the downhill side of things high around 7.8 - lowest I saw it get was around 7.75. I don’t have a lot of coral in the tank and the amount of macro algae I’d say is minimal. I haven’t been able to open windows as it has been too hot. Calc and alk do not support the addition of chemicals which could supplement the dropping PH. Did the aeration test recommended by @Randy Holmes-Farley and it increased dramatically when performed outside. I ran my skimmer line outside and is has increased.

With 5 people inside and one dog I imagine the C02 is fairly high inside. My wife also is frequently using the gas oven to bake which can only hurt.

My plan is to add corals after the phosphates come down and hopefully the PH will increase as the amount of macro algae grows consuming more C02. Fish to come after quarantine.

Still chugging along. I am willing to concede with my Ph being around 7.9 but stable. I don’t think I have enough coral density to increase during the day and my phosphates are hovering .04 despite feeding the corals inverts and fish frequently. Whenever I catch fish I cut strips for the anemones which they love.

My goal was to be an SPS dominant reef and I am slowly working my way towards that.

Ph 7.9
Nitrate 3ppm
Phosphate .04ppm
Calcium 420ppm
Magnesium 1385ppm
Alkalinity 9.0

I’ll be getting some new fish soon I hope. My fish guy is out of the country right now.

Have noticed a substantial increase in copepod and amphipod with the dosing of phytoplankton every few days. Started my own culture so that’ll be fun. Hoping to add some NPS coral down the road.

Tank inhabitants all look happy!

Split the culture today and it looks like it is doing well! Seeing lots of baby snails hatch around the tank which is pretty cool.

I’m feeding like crazy to try and bring phosphates up and encourage growth. I figure the ocean is full of food and I love feeding the corals and Marlin and Nemo! These candy canes are growing so quickly I’ve already cut them three times in the last month or so.
