Hello, I have an overstocked 10 gallon tank and I need suggestions on good filters because the current one is meant for 10-20 gallons but it isn't good enough. I plan on upgrading my tank to a bigger one soon but until then I need a good filter for my tank that isn't stupid expensive and I also want to mention what creatures I think are in the tank: 2 baby crabs, 1 ghost shrimp, and a few snails. You might be thinking that that is not overcrowded there are not many creatures, you would be right unless I told you that 1.5 gallons of my tank is sand and not water and under that sand lays many creatures, every week a new one emerges. I had a recent ammonia spike and it killed one of my crabs but then less than a day later one of a similar size took it's place, this tank used to hold about 12 ghost shrimp, all of them died to a disease/parasite. A ghost shrimp emerged from the sand. Over the course of the months I have had this tank I have added so many creatures that have died or disappeared and more creatures emerge from the sand then I remember adding. I suspect that at least 15 other creatures live under the sand at this very moment. That is why it is overcrowded and I need a good filter, I need it worlds better than this aqua tech power filter 10-20 that uses ez change #2.

I’d honestly recommend the Fluval aqua clear 20-50 gallon filter. It had a flow dial and is very good. You can pick them up at petco for like 30$ with price match.

K I got the new filter in and it will be used along with my current filter. I like that it has biomax.

I’ve always found the Marineland Penguin HOB filters to be solid and very reasonably priced. Cartridges are easy to replace, they contain all 3 types of filtration and they move a good amount of water.

Ok I am at the beach and found a few interesting things. First, 3 massive hermit crabs.

Second, a beautiful sea snail.20230122_152329.jpg Third, a weird alien rock with egg patterns.

Fourth, a metal thing. Fifth, some sand dollars.

Questions: can I use the samd dollars for decoration, what can I do with the hermit crabs? Sell them or something maybe use one small one in my tank for maintenance? What is the alien rock thing and what is the metal thing. Also I found an octopus giant one and a live sand dollar can I use the sand dollar for my tank? I let the octopus go.

No you can have as many as you wish it’s your system and you can do whatever you want to as long as you are successful. I have 3 hob’s a power head and protein skimmer on my 15 gallon tank.

I'm in California, can I sell these? Do people buy them?
You can sell anything but again realize its illegal to sell wildlife and wildlife from ocean without proper permits as a collector

The pump is removable it may be possible that the pump needs to be cleaned and that is very easy it just twist off and you can remove the magnet and impeller so they can be cleaned make sure you unplug the pump before doing maintenance and hold a small container under the pump to avoid spilling water.
