Hi and welcome to R2R! You’ll find the people here to be friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We’re glad you joined! Hopefully you’ll start a build thread so we can see your reef as it progresses.

Your tank is EPIC! Just thought you should know that.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome and kind words, I’m definitely gonna start my build thread soon hopefully this weekend as long as I can find a little time. Hopefully in the coming months and years the tank will be looking much more epic!

Hello all,
Been lurking around for the last 10 or 15 years, finally decided to start contributing so I figured I should introduce myself finally. I’ve had many tanks over the years with various success, most recently I had a nuvo 10 which upgraded to a nuvo 20 which I then put into a Red Sea max 250 that I got on Craigslist for 300 with the aquatic life fixture (score!) I plan to make a build thread and I figured this is a good start to hold myself accountable. Thanks all of you for all your contributions and information and pictures and Im excited to try and be a part of it all finally. As you can tell from the pictures I’ve had some losses and some wins, biggest thing was as soon as I had the 250 going I moved it an hour away and struggled keeping things stable, but it’s finally coming back together

Welcome! Glad you joined. WOW - you have had LOTS going on! Also sounds like you have BBA - Bounce Back Ability - that is great for this hobby and wonderful life skill!

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread under Forum > Member Aquariums and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID). Congrats on your latest score! I can't tell if you have multiple tanks still up, but if so (and entirely up to you) you might consider doing a thread for each tank just to keep it organized for yourself... though you will only get one badge.

This might help you find people local to you in Reno:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

Thank you so much! Yeah I’ve definitely had a lot going on, I will definitely go into more detail on my build thread that I’m going to try to start this weekend.
I definitely like to try and bounce back, it’s one of my hobbies that I don’t really ever lose interest in and have been doing fish tank things pretty much for as long as I can remember. Now I’m finally at an age that I have some stability and some money to throw at it so it’s fun to try and make something I’m really proud of.

The other two tanks were the progression to the RSM 250, they are not currently running.

also thanks for the link to the local reef club discussion. Not a lot of action in there for northern Nevada but maybe I can change that a little!
