This one seems to be fading out on me a little. Green less vibrant, less concentrated at the polyp, purple less dark. Had it about mid-way down from a hydra 26 on an lps program for three weeks. I figure it’s lighting. Figured this was a great forum to ask on due to all the favia pro love. I’m going to move it; do you guys think one like this would benefit from higher or lower light to keep it neon and contrasty?

Well i cut my frag rack. Lol now what. I dont even know what to do with this guy the skins weaved in and out of every speck of crevice on there. Anyway, here was the color i was talking about, doesnt look good in this photo but its an Insane crimson color. (Second photo)

It just decided to take off on me. It's actually growing underneight the frag rack just like the day glo. What i found really cool is the day glo got an insane color to the growth under the rack. As soon as I get more 5 inch plates - I will frag both corals away from eachother and take some photos.

You want to know what's insane, it covered the entire underneight of the frag rack in just under a month. Have had this piece for over a year and never seen something grow this fast.
I would come back and check every 2 3 days and I would actually see the newer growth. It was extremely hard for me to document it so I just left it alone. Just goes to show - maybe they do prefer indirect lighting.

I think its' safe to say, its worth the shot. Stick a favia frag half In the shade. Maybe you'll see some substantial growth. Especially if you have a piece thats' not doing much

They start off a bit slow, but when they take off they definitely grow with a boom!

I had one that for the first year it just kind of survived. always stayed sunk in and several times I thought it was a goner. I put it in my new tank this past Feb. It started with 4 heads. Each head has now split at least 3 times. I'll have to see if I can find an old pic and try to get a good pic of it now.

My Brett’s favia from Cherry has been a no grower so far (and doesn’t seem to take food too well, even reef roids laying on the polyps), but the oddessy is starting to take off. I don’t think my splatter green one has grown much, but it definitely eats well.
