is the Hanna Reagent a different recipe than the Neptune or ABC reagents? If it isn’t, then Hanna is FOS with their expiry date and consumers shouldn’t be spending extra needlessly. You’re better off spending the extra $ on bean stalk beans or plant the $10 bill in your back yard in hopes to grow a money tree.

The problem with expiration dates is the government makes companies put them on whether the item needs it or not. IMO.

I live in Canada.
Everything here is always about 40-50% more.
Okay, look at it another way.

You spend big bucks on setting up a Reef Tank, populating it, and then want to run expired tests whose results you will always worry about being correct.

To me at least, spending the money for non expired reagents removes one variable which could cause you grief.

$10 or $30 makes no difference. You may as well not run the test than to run tests which you cannot trust.

I just toss any out of date test kits. Cheaper in the long run.

First you say he’s being taken for a ride, then you say there’s no difference in $10 and $30. If there’s no difference, how can he had been taken for a ride.?

I assumed he was in the US - my bad.

$30 CAD is still a rip off. But it is what it is.

In any event even at $100 I'd still toss them - the reagents are pointless if you cannot trust them.

Fair enough. We get hosed in Canada. Our currency is on par with yours, but our government charges so much in tariffs that we likely pay more than you do on some things, even though Aus is across the ocean and we’re right next door.

This thread is bizarre. The $40 was for 100 tests. In the US, 25 tests costs $18. $40 cad is only $30 USD. They are not equivalent currencies.

Good to know that the ulr phosphate reagents actually DO expire. That's the info I was looking for.
