Ever been poked by a Tang’s tail?

Has anyone ever been poked by the thorn or spine on a tang’s tail fin? What does it feel like? Looks like a mighty fine poke judging by photos.

Yes! I recently got stung by a large blue hippo tang's venomous rear dorsal fin spine. It hurts like a SOB! The initial poke is very painful and is followed by several hours of intense ache and throbbing that radiated from the tip of my finger to my wrist/forearm. I would compare it to a strong wasp or hornet sting.

Hurts like heck! I had a purple tang who kept spiking me every time my hand was in the tank. Booger got me good a couple of times

Wow .. so they’re like clownfish to you (years ago in my last tank I had clownfish and those things are so mean when I put my hand in the water!)? My purple tang thinks I’m feeding it anytime my hand is in the water. It’s just curiously waits to see if food is released from wherever I am. I should try hand feeding it one day.

Lol my second didnt do that at all just the one. He was kind of a butt! I lost her due to old age recently. Im going to get another one soon, I miss having a purple.
