OK, Chris and I have been working out the details of this and I think we're ready to announce!
Date: December 12, 2015
Time: 3:00-6:00 (but feel free to stay as late as you like)
Location: my house in Clinton
Chris has agreed to provide a protein for the meal. I'll let him post what he has in mind. Please bring a side or desert to compliment the main course. Feel free to bring your favorite beverages, alcoholic or otherwise (I'll provide some basic soda, tea, etc.). If there's a particular mixer you'd like, just LMK and I can arrange for that. I'll post an address in the private forum for those who've not been to my house before. Children are welcome but we don't really have much in the way of toys or what-not for them; our boys are either out of the house or away at college. Of course, feel free to bring other family members along as well, after all it is Christmas and all about enjoying the season!
We owe Chris a debt of gratitude. He has really outdone himself to arrange for some frags to be shipped to us from battlecorals.com for prizes to be given away at the party and some Triton tests to compare against our test kit results. On that note, feel free to bring your test kit and we'll do some comparison testing and hopefully learn some tricks from one another on how we test.
If you'd like to bring a reef-themed ornament for a gift exchange please do so. It is a long-standing tradition of ETRC that has gotten lost in recent years. We will do it in "white elephant" fashion. Gifts are wrapped and we determine the order for opening. The first person opens their chosen gift from the pile. 2nd person either "steals" from the 1st person or selects a wrapped gift. This continues in this fashion until the last person is finished. This has set up some interesting friendly "rivalries" between ETRC members in the past that are invoked at future Christmas parties and is generally a lot of fun!
Parking at my house is a bit tricky so don't hesitate to park on the lawn along side the driveway or anywhere else you can find a spot. You can even drive up the hill to my neighbor's concrete driveway, take that in, and keep straight onto my lawn at the first curve.
We will do the testing and reef activities at the beginning of the party to get the formalities out of the way and move on to the fellowship. I hope you can make it and don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions, etc. Also, please try to let us know how many you plan on bringing along with you so we're sure to have plenty to eat. See you in a couple of weeks!
Dave
