Just picked up this 125 for cheap. It's not drilled, but will be once in done with it. My question is, who in this fine group is going to volunteer to show me how to drill, plumb, and install overflows?

Lmk I've got the tools and even some bulkheads and an overflow I can sell you if you don't already have them.

Dave

Sounds great man. How many gph do you think the over flow needs to be? I as looking at this online.

Also, I am picking up a 40 breeder here in the next few days, know any places to get baffles cut, and where I can find plans or instructions on how to build it.
But it seems pretty expensive

I'm not a fan of huge flow rates through the sump -- no need! What I have is the one hole version of the overflow on your link plus bulkhead. My holesaw has a plastic dam that sticks to the glass with double-sided tape. You can get the other stuff locally for much less $$. I just buy acrylic from home depot, cut it to fit, and silicone it in with the he stuff in the red and white tube.

I thought was a bit excessive. How much do you want for all of your material? Do you have the stuff to plumb in a locking return? Or should I order the materials for it? I'm going to try and pick it up this Monday.

II think I have one 3/4" bulkhead, overflow and hole saw. Cost me about $45 for it all, how about $25? No locline but you can get it locally. You might want another bulkhead to plumb the return.

Sounds good to me. I'll look at getting all the return stuff. I pick the tank up tomorrow evening. Do you think I should have a single or dual return?

I highly recommend Glass-Holes.com dope aquarium stuff for a complete kit. Check em out!

I got everything needed. Didn't have to make one trip to Lowes-lol.

I just ordered the dual return kit and the 1500 gph max kit. I pick up my 40 breeder tomorrow as well as the new tank. I may bring both down with me so you can supervise my plans and measurements got sump with fuge.

Single is good for about 700 gph. I run quite a bit lower on my 80 to keep the overflow noise down.

I have an overflow and return kit ordered. They shipped today. This guy has some sort of redneck DIY overflow on this thing. If you look in the pics, right in the middle of the pic is looks kinda foggy looking... Thats the over flow. Im going to have take a razor blade and cut all of that out.

Well alittle further down the road, I would love for us to get together and drill this bad boy. Also, I would like to pick your brain on sump designs as well. Im not a huge DIY person, so alittle hand holding is required! lol On a side note, what size hoel saws do you have? The kit I have calls for a 3/4 and a 1 1/2 I think.

If you ordered from glass--holes.com the kit comes with the hole saws.

You are correct Sir. I didnt notice that. Now I need to get measurements so I can get baffles cut for my sump. I was looking at diferent designs last night. I really like this one here. With the Return in the middle and the Refugium on the far side. What do you all think?
