Hi all

I am moving from a reefer 350 to a 200XL. Still love the hobby but dont really have the space and my tank is getting a little older and I wanted a new fresh start. The 200XL seemed to be the smallest "real" tank I could get in that it has a sump and everything I would need. I started in a 15 gallon nano a million years ago so no issues with less water.

Anyone have a 200XL have any thoughts about it or aquascape. Its pretty much a cube but seems to have lots of room for a small tank. I have 8 fish I might try to move them all over but if its too crowded ill give some away. Most of my fish are small tank species.

I have
3 pajama cardinals
2 green chromis
1 fairy wrasse (Not 100% sure he will be happy in less water?)
1 clown
1 YWG
2 Shrimp
Assorted hermits and snails.

Just looking for advice or pics of aquascape. I will have both tanks up side by side for as long as I need so its not a 1 day move type of thing.

I had the Red Sea reefer 170 and loved it. Plenty of options for the aquascape and sump.

You have a group of fish that dont require a lot of hiding as they are mid tank swimmers and bottom dwellers. other than sand bed, you can add 2-3 cave like structure and build rock as you deem to your likings, As there are many of these tanks on tank discussion forum, take a look at / type in red Sea 200xl and see what others are doing for scaping

yeah one reason I am not just moving my tank over is I want the scape to be really nice. I have been looking at some build threads and saw some I liked. When I setup my reefer 350 I did not have a good idea what I was doing and always had a few regrets.

Here is mine, it has been running for 5 months. Love the tank so far. I used the sand/superglue method to create my scape it worked great. Will definitely do it that way again when I setup another tank!

Where did you get the white tank to the left? Is that for ATO reservoir ?
Yes ATO from Advanced Acrylics. Fits perfectly next to the sump and holds 10 gallons.

I’ve been looking for something that fits the 200XL and this is perfect. Thank you for the company info. Awesome setup, it’s not easy working in tight spaces
