Crazy question. Were one to diy pills with kalk then dose them with auto pellet feeders because they want to increase the potency where evaporation limits that then would those pills allow co2 in and deplete its potency?

Dosing would be in a high flow area where pills would dissolve and let additive be released.

Not sure how much potency lost if pills filled outside where co2 levels would be lower.

Like I said. Crazy question but I’d like to know.

I do not recommend adding dry calcium hydroxide to a reef tank, if that is what you mean. Too much risk of it getting to delicate organisms, and locally initiating calcium carbonate precipitation.

Degradation by CO2 will happen, but more slowly than when dissolved.

Idea was dose the powder with not a high flow area far up the filtration process to ensure it dissolved before entering the display. Trying to come with ways to possibly raise pH and reduce evaporation to reduce interaction with room co2

I still think solid calcium hydroxide in seawater is suboptimal.
