Now that I am getting into the scary world of sps and after seeing the recent BRS video on amino dosing, I have bought myself a bottle of Salifert Coraline Amino.
According to the instructions, I should dose 12ml once a week.
I don't understand the theory of a once a week dose.
Would it not be better to dose 2ml a day?

Or even better .084 ml per hour!

Just kidding but that is a pretty good point. Why dont we do small daily doses because 2ml is easilly measured and it makes more sense to keep it more stable rather than one big dose that slowly declines over the week

It depends on what the goal is, but I would not assume without some sort of testing what dosing scheme is best. I could give reasons why once a day is better (e.g., the concentration might need to rise to a high enough level to be useful to corals, or else perhaps they cannot take it up), or less dosed more often would be better (e.g., they have a longer time of availability).

But I don’t know which, if either, will give a good or best effect in your tank.

I’d just try it and see if it is apparently useful at all. Then maybe try different dosing schemes.

This sounds like a great question for #askbrs
