Dog days of summer for our hobby…

Is it me or do others also feel like the hobby takes a big break during the summer months? Feels like we downshift until mid September every year. What do you think?

In Dallas, the summer is ridiculously hot! I spend more time indoors, so more time with the tank.

I'm busy doing outside things from May to October. If it is too hot or rainy I'm inside.

I live in Florida and is too hot in the summer so I am mostly inside with the tank.

In talking to 2 LFS, they order less fish and coral in summer as customer traffic decreases. Also an on line vendor recently asked employees to take Vaca time during slower months of July and august. Seems like other things take priority with kids off school, etc however those of us who have tanks, fish and coral cant afford to let up but i do buy less livestock in summer.

Perhaps it's family vacations or parents spending more time with their out-of-school kids or grandkids. Fish get the short end of the stick if that is the case! Most of my family trips are in the summer, so to say that my time with my tank is cut short this time a year is a true statement for me.
